Today, November 14th, Children's Day (Bal Diwas) is being celebrated grandly across the country. It is customary to observe this day on the occasion of the birthday of the architect of modern India and the country's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru, who was lovingly known to all children as 'Chacha Nehru', deeply believed in the importance of children for the future of the nation. Special programs are being organized in schools across the country today to mark his birthday.
